I like gulick but I think the prices are not worth it for some things. Almost $8 for a roll of maki. I would pass on this one if you don't like ginger in your maki. $2.35 for inari. Lots of flavor I would buy this one again. Quality is always consistent and good. Very clean. I wish I could give half stars. 3 1/2. Good quality but a lil pricey.

One of my go to okazuya spots, Gulick never disappoints. We like to go between 10 and 11 AM before the lunch rush. There's usually a parking stall right in front on the street or else they have a few parking stalls to the side. The staff here are super on it and they definitely have an efficient system so that you can get in and out in no time. Some of my must have items are : - Garlic chicken - California roll - Chow Fun - Hot Dog - Potato Mac salad - Namasu

Hole in the wall. Super fast. Can't beat the price for some large variety. Come in at 11ish to avoid the lunch traffic. Parking is limited but worth the small drive from work.

If you want some okazu-ya type food, Gulick is a great place to get some of that. My favorite is the konbu, but my last visit they didn't have. Shucks. So I got gobo, namasu, chow fun, tuna musubi, fried chicken, hash, and a shoyu hotdog. The portion sizes are pretty good and so I had it for lunch and dinner. All of their food is tasty and it's like comfort food. So good.

A must visit when you're in Hawaii. If you're looking for a place to try some local Japanese breakfast, lunch for work, or maybe a little snack, make sure to check them out. They have various types of Musubis, fried chicken, fried rice, and other local favorites. It's not in the greatest neighborhood, but I can guarantee you the food will satisfy your taste buds.

So SO SO many good things about Gulick Deli. I have been going to Gulick deli for years now and I cannot express how many good items they have there. First of all, the green beans and pork. Can we say crispy beans and delicious season pork? Then, its the sweet sour spareribs, dang so meaty and fatty all at once. Then the nishime, shiso musubi, cone sushi, fried fish, corned beef patty, spicy chicken, karrage chicken, chow fun, and so much more. The service is always spot on and the ladies know what they are doing when they make the plates. They are always doing it right and charging it right at the end. The price is somewhat pricey for okazu but where can you find good okazu anymore right? The place is very small but there is parking next to the building or on the street. I seem to always find a stall somewhere nearby and it is sure worth it to walk a little to get there. My only gripe is the chow mein is a little different now. I am not sure what the change was but it isn't as good as before. Something is missing. I hope this place never goes away cause it is a gem and a half. I will be visiting there for many more years to come.

I love delicatessens because you can get everything ala carte and create your own plate. I've heard about this place, some good and some bad, but never been here before. We were driving by and I literally told my hubby to stop the car, lol. I had to run in and get some food. On my plate I ended up getting the sweet & sour spareribs $3.99, shoyu chicken $3.75, chow fun $3.50 and a veggie tempura $2.75. The hubby wasn't hungry and just got an order of chicken katsu $3.50, fried chicken $3.75 and sweet potato mash $2.05. I love this place. If I lived in the area, I would eat here more often. Everything that I had was yummy, except for the chow fun. It needed a lot more soy sauce. The noodles had no taste whatsoever. Besides that, everything was on point. The shoyu chicken and sweet & sour spareribs were rich in flavor. You can tell by the color. I haven't had a veggie tempura that good in a long time. I ate it three hours later and it was one hundred percent still crispy and not oily at all. They hubby liked the chicken katsu and fried chicken thigh. I didn't try it. I did however polish off the sweet potato mash. It was smooth, creamy, naturally sweet and so good. He was mad, lol. I told him we can always go back.

Gulick was my first (locally recommended) okazuya experience, and it did not disappoint. I stopped by for lunch prior to visiting the Bishop Museum, and I really enjoyed exploring this side of Honolulu. There was no one inside when I arrived, so I was served immediately. Then I had to quickly come up with a Plan B to eat my food since I didn't quite anticipate it would be a barebones deli with no dining tables and no public restrooms. After a little research, I ended up walking to Kamehameha Community Park for an impromptu picnic. That actually allowed me to see more of the neighborhood and interact with locals, one of the aspects of my vacation that I remember most vividly. The food I got was on the heavier side (especially considering I was dining in direct sunlight), but I enjoyed the meal nonetheless. Now, I'm looking forward to checking out an okazuya back in Vegas!

Currently my favorite okazuya place and kind of an OG when it comes to these types of places. I used to frequent this place when I worked and lived closer, but now I'm more in town so it's a bit more of a journey to get here. The food: garlic chicken here is really good. Boneless and really tasty. The spicy chicken, which looks similar to the garlic chicken is also really tasty, but it is littered with bones so definitely not my favorite. The spicy chicken reminds me of a New York fashion show where everyone is really bony so it's not for me. The egg omelet is another really good selection, as is the shrimp with vegetable which contains shrimp, broccoli, chicken, and a few token carrots. I usually get gobo and pick a musubi from the vast selection (tuna with takuan is probably my favorites, unless I'm going old school with a cone sushi). Service is good and employees are efficient so you will be in and out in a matter of minutes. A few parking stalls outside as well as street parking all around.

My co-worker called Gulick was able to order a special platter of assortments which included: spam musubi, tuna musubi, Korean chicken, egg rolls, and sausages. It was so neatly packed, please checkout the photo! It was enough for the 10 of us at work. Everything tasted delicious, my favorite is the tuna musubi and the Korean chicken.
